Projects on the Tempelhofer Feld

School classes and daycare groups become meadow researchers, weather experts or bird watchers on the Tempelhofer Feld.

Tempelhofer Feld has what is otherwise rare in Berlin: natural meadows that you are allowed to walk on and plenty of wind and weather. Many different plant and animal species, including protected species, live here. A place made for an exciting environmental education programme.

School classes and day-care groups become meadow researchers, weather experts or bird watchers.

The most popular topic among children and young people: Insects in the meadow. Here they roam the meadows with magnifying glasses and meadow nets, identify and draw the carefully caught insects, learn about their construction plan and the meadow habitat.

Teachers, educators and teacher trainees attend further training courses to learn about the flora and fauna as well as other opportunities that the Tempelhofer Feld offers for children and young people.

On weekends, we organise guided tours on the flora and fauna of Tempelhofer Feld. Under expert guidance, skylarks, red-backed shrikes and kestrels can be observed. During the botanical tours, not only are individual plant species identified, but it is also explained how plants have adapted to the sometimes extreme living conditions of drought and high temperatures.

We also offer nature walks at Tempelhofer Feld for children's birthday parties. Individual nature tours can also be arranged with us.

The research tent is the meeting point at almost all events. Our wish, of course, is to create a permanent environmental education site here on Tempelhofer Feld where visitors can learn about the special features of nature.
