Schillerkiez District Garden

Community design of the area, maintenance of raised beds and events in self-organized structures: The project "Stadtteilgarten Schillerkiez" was founded in 2010 to create a space and an open structure for self-organized action for residents of the Schillerkiez.

We have been active on the Tempelhofer Feld since April 2011. We want to explore the possibilities of concrete participation in the design of Tempelhofer Feld, while keeping a critical eye on developments in the neighborhood such as rising rents and social displacement. In addition to events on these topics, we also organize readings and photo exhibitions. Since June 2018, an area of the garden has been converted into a sky observation station or "observatory" for this purpose.

In this interview, we commented on the developments at Tempelhofer Feld.

Gardening is done in smaller groups or individually, but we place special emphasis on the communal design of our area. With flower islands and shaded places to linger, we want to make the neighborly exchange beyond noise and party as pleasant as possible.

presence times

We are present almost daily from April to October, weather permitting. During this period, open garden meetings are held every last Sunday of the month at 1 pm.
Unfortunately, the observatory cannot be open daily. Information about planned activities or special observations will be announced on site through notices.
