Projects on the Tempelhofer Feld
The organization New Hope and Light e.V. offers global learning on renewable energy topics through playful and active experiences at Tempelhofer Feld.
Our workshops take place at Tempelhofer Feld (near the community gardens at Oderstraße) (one session lasts at least 3 hrs.).
The workshops include an informative introduction to the topics of renewable energies and sustainability as well as experiments to make the experienced knowledge vivid and practical. For example, solar cars or solar carousels are built.
Participants of our workshops learn in a playful and active way how relevant the topic of sustainability is in the fields of technology, culture and in a global context. We work inclusively, which means that the learning content is differentiated in such a way that the participants are neither over- nor under-challenged.
It is important to us to create new perspectives and to show possibilities in dealing with each other.
New Hope and Light e. V. is a non-profit organization with the goal of anchoring sustainability as an overriding principle in all areas of human activity. Our commitment to sustainability promotes a more differentiated understanding through educational work, both in Germany and in the countries of Africa.
The content of our educational programs is aimed at children and young people. The aim is for them to learn in a playful and active way how relevant the topic of sustainability is in the areas of technology, business, culture and in a global context.
Our long-standing and successful cooperation with various project partners enables us to draw on a wide range of offers and extensive experimental materials.
With our educational offers we want to show what consequences our consumption has for people in the Global South. The educational concept of "global learning" makes it possible to recognize global connections and establish links between our local lives and those of people in the Global South.
We conduct educational projects with Global Learning events at home to promote global justice and sustainable environmental education through more conscious and sustainable actions. Abroad, we promote sustainable projects implemented in cooperative development with interested Southern partners. Project areas include education, health, human rights, gender, agriculture, community development, business development, energy, and sustainable environmental education. Our practical experience enables us to offer a wide range of activities in the field of energy education:
- Project days at schools and kindergartens
- Public events with an energy experience character (trade fairs/markets, city and community festivals)
- Training courses for pedagogical staff
- Handicraft activities with solar cells
- We work inclusively, i.e. the learning content is differentiated in such a way that the participants are neither over- nor under-challenged. This differentiation in terms of content and method ensures that everything meets the different needs of the participants. The age-appropriate and topic-specific adaptation of the workshop materials is always carried out by our qualified instructors.
In our projects, we want to confront outdated clichés and role models. Accordingly, it is close to our hearts to create new perspectives and to show possibilities in dealing with each other. For the MINT area (mathematics, computer science, natural science and technology), this means motivating young women and girls to exploit their talents and strengthening them to pursue corresponding goals.
